> What are Posters? Posters are the bedrock of our community. > What does a Poster do? The most important thing a Poster does is to Post Movies to appease the demands of the cascading throngs of ravenous and porn crazed lurkers. Posters usually upload movies from their own hard drives and/or rip movies directly from their own personal collections to share with the community. The 2nd most important thing a Poster does is to encourage and help along any newbie or lurker wishing to partake in the ever expanding Posting scene of HCMF. This is one of the prime reasons our community is a lightening rod for new Posters. Posters try to make their posts as lurker friendly as possible. This usually entails creating a few preview pics, providing basic information like the duration, compressor used, actress names, etc. Posters will always come to the aid and assistance of another poster at HCMF because they share a common thread of respect for the essential role that one another plays in the community. It's a sort of fraternal order or brotherhood that all Posters enjoy here at HCMF. The atmosphere and camaraderie created by this is cherished by all and is what makes HCMF so extraordinary. > What are the incentives of becoming a Poster? In exchange for posting at their community, Posters are worshipped as immortal gods by untold thousands of individuals from all 4 corners of the planet who come to HCMF everyday to pay homage. More notably, all consistent Posters are given privileges which entitles them access to a forum index tailored specifically for Posters only. When a poster logs in, all banners, toplist links, and extraneous advertisements vanish from the index. > How do I Post and share movies? To get started have a look at the various help links and tutorials on the left side of the forum. Also try running a Search of the Message Archives at main forum as well as the tech forum, there you will find an abundance of helpful information and resources on posting. > Special Note For Preventing Link Theft: In the past it's been our policy to not suggest methods or procedures of posting. We have always preferred to leave the evolution of posting methodology to the posters, as they are fully capable of deciding what's best for themselves. Although link theft from our forum has always been a problem it has become more and more rampant recently to the point where it is reaching epidemic proportions. In light of this we are recommending that Posters take steps to protect their posts from the low-down, snake-in-the-grass, link thieves. Sadly, most of this thievery is enabled by Administrators and Moderators of 'other' forums. Not only do they encourage and allow this behavior but in many cases they are active participants in the thievery themselves! We strongly urge that Posters password protect their files to thwart these link poachers whose only motive is to exploit the collective work and effort of our community. We suggest including the forum address in the password as this will in most cases deter 'other' forums from allowing the stolen posts to remain on their boards. If they did allow such posts they would only expose themselves as cretins while simultaneously serve to promote our community -- Which 'other' forums definitely do NOT want to do. > Effective formats for passwords include: Yourname@hcmf.com If this becomes a widely accepted practice not only will link theft at our community end forever, but the movie files will last longer because only those at HCMF will be downloading the files instead of half the internet !
