let's hope it will awake someday...
On the other hand it looks like the new owner doesn't really bother too much
about that so why should we? Personally I downloaded at hcmf almost nothing
but I liked to share what I have if people need it... I'm not a posting addict though
so thanks to this event I have much more time to spend on other things so I sure
can't complain
Anyway I'd recommend everyone to relax a bit and enjoy your real life. Yes, I know
it's kinda cruel sometimes but finally it is not that bad, right? Those who are looking
for pr0n - jeez, all you need is to keep your eyes open if you know what I mean!
Regarding the new site... Well, as a developer I _really_
appreciate all the efforts on making it but (imho) since the older forum
is not one of those PHP-BB based ones it has its own style moreover
it's _much_ faster (this is not a surprise considering the fact that Perl is
generally much faster than PHP ) In any case I don't think it's
a good idea to post there getting 0-5 replies...
I don't know if it will revive or not... Anyway I had a really great time
here and once again I'd like to thank all people who supported
me - thanks a lot, guys and take care!
Good luck.
Just a few points:
There
is no new owner. While HCMF was apparently briefly on the block,
ownership was never changed. Without getting into too much detail,
HCMF's owner has a lot going on this summer in real life and has had
to pull back his involvement with the day to day stuff. He thought
briefly about selling the site, but changed his mind after a week or
two.
The new forum can be maddenly slow a times, i agree. I am
not a web developer, so i dont know why this is. I do know that i visit
other PHP based websites all the time that are not slow. So, in my
limited knowlege of the situation, it seems to me that there must be
some flaws in the site code for hardcoreforum. Of course the main
problem is that the vast bulk of the coding is being done by one
person, who isnt getting paid, and who has to do it on his own free
time. So getting things fixed and/or improved over there can take
awhile. But i do know that they have asked the HCMF community for help
in the past and have had those requests met with deafening silence. So
to complain about how the new site runs now seems a bit hypocritical.
As
far as thank youing goes at hardcoreforum, it is slowly increasing. I
think for the most part, people were using HCMF as their source for
most of their downloading, and only going to Hardcoreforum to get the
few posts that werent posted at HCMF. Just before HCMF went out, i had
a post break 11,000 page views at the new forum, and the Top 10 Viewed
posts routinely have a few with 4000 or 5000+ . So traffic is
increasing. This recent outage at HCMF seems to have spurred activity
there a little too. Its a chicken-egg conundrum. You dont want to post
there because there isnt enough traffic to justify your time and
effort, but traffic wont increase unless the prolific posters like you
embrace the new forum and give people a reason to go there. Holy
Catch-22 Batman!
Thats why ive been posting my full movies at
Hardcoreforum, and then crossposting one scene from each movie at HCMF.
If there isnt any unique content at Hardcoreforum, there isnt any
reason for anyone to go there.
As for what i think has been
implied a few times, this downtime at HCMF was not intentional. I have
nbot spoken to the owner specifically about this, but in the
converstaions we have had in the past about the roles each site were
going to play, the owner has been adament about not shutting HCMF down.
So i dont believe that this is intentional.
I hope that your
parting sentences werent a subtle goodbye. You have been one of the
truly outstanding posters here for a long time, and losing you and your
contributions would be a great blow to this community. If posting at
HCMF is truly that important to you, and posting at Hardcorforum truly
that distasteful, then by all means post at the OT forum. I think
you'll find that you wont get even as much traffic as you would at
Hardcoreforum, but feel free to try. Personally, i think that if you
post at Hardcoreforum, your fans will follow. But do what you want to
do.
Hope this helps.
